IGNITE Mastering Manufacturing is a three-year foundational competency-based curriculum for the “multi-skilled technician” needed in today’s workplace. introducing students to advanced manufacturing materials, processes and systems through on-line. interactive, multimedia and project-based learning built around real industry challenges.

Three components form the IGNITE curriculum. building off each other to help students develop their skills in a holistic learning environment.

Materials Science
These modules are integrated into IGNITE activities and other courses. such as math and science. Each module includes a kickoff brainstorming session and final presentation of what has been learned. with activities scheduled in between.

Advanced Manufacturing Systems And Processes
This portion contains three courses: Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing. Advanced Manufacturing Systems 1, and Advanced Manufacturing Systems 2. Each course blends interactive multimedia learning with virtual simulations of manufacturing technologies to help students experience topics in an immersive, project-based environment.

Capstone Projects
In the final year, students work in teams on a capstone project that uses industry-specific new and emerging technologies to solve real-world problems. The teams research ideas, develop multiple solutions, analyze and select the best one, build a prototype, and evaluate their results.

An innovative training and credentialing program that has a success rate of over 90 percent, Operation Next provides a blended learning curriculum to active duty soldiers within their last six months of service, enabling them to earn one or more nationally portable, standards based, industry recognized credentials in high demand manufacturing fields.

Over 200,000 service members transition out of the military annually. These individuals, prepared with critically needed technical skills in addition to the skills acquired through service, represent a potentially powerful solution to the manufacturing skills gap.

Operation Next is a competency-based program featuring a hybrid curriculum, allowing transitioning military to learn the theory online through simulations and multimedia and then demonstrate their new skills on real world manufacturing equipment. Upon completion of Operation Next, they are prepared to earn nationally portable, industry recognized credentials and secure a job in one the most in-demand advanced manufacturing fields.
