Learn how LIFT is leading a focused effort to identify, quantify, and close key gaps in the implementation of ICME across domestic casting and forging production, and how you can engage in the next phase of projects and collaborations.

This session will highlight how Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) is working to reshape the way materials and components are designed, produced, qualified, and scaled. By integrating advanced modeling with materials and process data, ICME has the potential to reduce risk, cost, and time from concept to qualified part.

For U.S. castings and forgings foundational to defense, shipbuilding, ground vehicles, aerospace, heavy industry, and other dual-use sectors, ICME offers a critical opportunity to strengthen the industrial base by cutting scrap and rework, accelerating development timelines, improving performance and reliability, and boosting manufacturing efficiency.

To fully realize this vision, key capability gaps in ICME workflows and cyber physical implementations must be identified against specific problem statements, and efforts funded to bridge those gaps.

Attendees will gain insight and have an opportunity to provide input into LIFT’s ICME roadmap, priority gaps and requirements, and upcoming project call phases and topics. Agenda items include:
• Understanding the intent, goals, and expected impact of LIFT’s ICME roadmapping program on the U.S. casting and forging industrial base.
• Learning how LIFT is partnering with government, primes, and suppliers to advance ICME adoption and address technical, data, and workforce barriers.
• Reviewing and recruiting attendee input on the ICME roadmap, including priority gaps, requirements, and opportunities for domestic casting and forging production.
• Hear about upcoming LIFT project calls, funding and collaboration opportunities, and specific ways to engage.
