LIFT: Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow

Kentucky has a long and rich manufacturing history. In 2014, manufacturing firms employed nearly 240,000 workers and contributed 20% of the state's Gross State Product. From the production of automobiles to appliances to computer hardware to disco balls, the manufacturing sector in the Commonwealth has supported families and built regional economies. And now, in the current resurgence of manufacturing, as new technologies emerge and jobs once lost are reinvented, Kentucky leadership has focused its attention on the need for new skills and the opportunity of new careers for citizens.
