LIFT Partners With TWI Ltd, Expands Its Network Into Great Britain

DETROIT – LIFT, the national manufacturing innovation institute, today announced it has signed an agreement with TWI Ltd, based in Cambridge, United Kingdom, to collaborate in the future.

LIFT and TWI recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize their partnership and project cooperation, including:
• Undertaking research and development work, and;
• Access to facilities.

LIFT operates a public-private partnership between the Department of Defense, industry and academia to drive American industry into the future “where manufacturing technology and talent matter.”

TWI descended from the British Welding Research Association and has grown into one of the foremost independent research and technology organizations, spanning innovation, knowledge transfer and problem resolution across all aspects of welding, joining, surface engineering, inspection and whole-life integrity management.

“We are please to welcome TWI Ltd., into our important ecosystem, focused on advanced materials, manufacturing processes and systems” said Nigel Francis, chief executive officer and executive director, LIFT. “We are thrilled to have this agreement in place to share the facilities and the know-how of our colleagues overseas.”
