LIFT Launches New Webinar Series Focused on Talent Development in Advanced Manufacturing
Education thought leaders to share unique insights on connecting workforce education and development with lightweighting technology
DETROIT — LIFT – Lightweight Innovations For Tomorrow, the Detroit-based Manufacturing USA Institute, announced today it will inaugurate a new webinar series – “Bringing Mind To Market” – highlighting how the institute and its partners are working to ensure the American advanced manufacturing workforce has the knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in today’s technology-infused manufacturing workplace.
The monthly series, to be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. ET, will feature education and workforce development experts showcasing LIFT’s and its partners’ work to both encourage more students to consider manufacturing as a career choice, and ensure they are on the path to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful. The first webinar in the series will be held on Tuesday, August 14, featuring the LIFT Expert Educator Team and its recent reports and recommendations for colleges and universities to modify current curricula to reflect the knowledge and skills necessary for manufacturing jobs encompassing new lightweighting technologies, materials, and processes. These experts will share their perspectives on the importance of work-and-learn strategies, at all levels of education, to ensure new workers – in both design and production – can apply the knowledge they have gained in educational pathways.
“The education and workforce development initiatives underway at LIFT are having an impact locally and across the country,” said Emily DeRocco, education and workforce development director, LIFT. “From the outset, they have been designed to be replicable and scalable to be used anywhere across the country. We are excited about the opportunity to share the work we are doing and help others to use the tools we have already developed to support and grow the U.S. manufacturing base.”
