Welcome to the 17th U.S. National Congress on Computational Mechanics
Welcome to the 17th U.S. National Congress on Computational Mechanics (USNCCM17). The biennial congress is the premier U.S. venue for showcasing the latest research in the broad field of computational mechanics, bringing together top researchers and practitioners in academia, government, and industry from around the world. USNCCM17 will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on the 20th anniversary of the 7th U.S. National Congress on Computational Mechanics (USNCCM7) held in Albuquerque in 2003. We are excited about the possibility of holding the Congress as an in-person event following USNCCM16 in July, 2021 which was in all-virtual format due to COVID-19 restrictions.

USNCCM17 will include networking events for students and female researchers, a student poster competition, career and industry panels, as well as several pre-Congress short courses. We anticipate providing travel awards to students, postdocs, and invited speakers. In addition to highlighting research areas across the broad spectrum of computational mathematics and engineering science, the Congress will emphasize additional themes that represent special topics of current importance, including data-driven modeling and machine learning, advanced manufacturing, climate modeling, and exascale computing.

Albuquerque, founded in 1706, is a culturally rich and diverse city with both native American and Spanish history. Its location in the Rio Grande Valley, next to the Sandia Mountains, makes it a gateway to the Southwest. The Congress venue in downtown Albuquerque is only five miles from the Albuquerque International Sunport. There are several nearby cultural attractions including Petroglyph National Monument, Albuquerque Biological Park, Rio Grande Nature Center State Park, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, Albuquerque Art Museum, Old Town, and the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. For the outdoor enthusiasts, Albuquerque has an outstanding high-desert climate, beautiful scenery, and an abundance of hiking and biking trails. Beyond Albuquerque, the state of New Mexico has nearly twenty National Parks and Monuments.

We hope to see you in Albuquerque for USNCCM17!
