MakerMinded Impacting Ohio Classrooms

MakerMinded, LIFT’s online STEM learning and activity platform, which launched in Tennessee and Kentucky in 2016, rolled out in Ohio in the fall of 2017 for the 2017-18 school year.

MakerMinded’s online platform connects students to over 150 leading-edge STEM and advanced manufacturing education experiences, while galvanizing participating students and schools around a student-driven, pro-manufacturing campaign and competition. The platform’s goal is to provide students access to the right programs that will encourage and prepare them for further education and careers in advanced manufacturing.

Across the country, the platform has over 375 schools participating students completing more than 4,200 STEM activities.

In the seven months the platform has been active in Ohio, it has already had a positive impact for the teachers and students taking part.

Recently, two Ohio educators, Russell Nelson, sixth-grade science and sustainability teacher at Dayton Regional STEM School (DRSS) in Kettering in southwestern Ohio, and Juliann Trevorrow, Project Lead the Way teacher in Alliance City Schools in northeastern Ohio, spoke about how they are incorporating the platform into their classroom.
