Michigan

Michigan is the birthplace of the U.S. automotive industry and home to America’s Motor City, the City of Detroit. The state has long been a manufacturing hub but was hit hard by a recession that started in 2001. Michigan is still recovering from over a decade of job losses. But, the state is coming back and manufacturing is breathing new life into the state’s economy and workforce. Currently, the manufacturing sector is responsible for nearly 600,000 jobs in the state and 21% of Gross State Product. LIFT’s presence in Detroit is part of this re-invention of the city and of the state. Get Involved
