LIFT: Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow

David B. Williams, PhD, ScD

David B. Williams is Executive Dean of the Professional Colleges and Dean of the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University.

Williams serves on the Business Higher Education Forum, the Council on Competitiveness, Ohio’s Third Frontier Advisory Board, the Boards of Metro Early College STEM School, Columbus 2020 and the Transportation Research Center.

As President of the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2007 to 2011, he served on the boards of the Tennessee Valley Corridor, Huntsville Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Business Council.

Before Huntsville, as VP Research at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, he was on the Boards of the Ben Franklin Technology Partnership and he PA Life Sciences Greenhouse.

With B.A., M.A., Ph.D., and Sc.D. degrees from Cambridge University, Williams is Fellow of seven professional societies, author/editor of 13 books and author of 450 publications on electron microscopy/materials. A visiting professor at Manchester University, he has given >300 invited talks in 30 countries.
